Excursion to Jewish Historical Sites

May 7, 2026

On 26 April 2026, members of the Jewish Community of Prague took part in a heritage excursion focused on important Jewish historical sites in Central Bohemia.

The programme included a visit to the former synagogue in Golčův Jeníkov, which today serves as the textile repository of the Jewish Museum in Prague. Participants also visited the local Jewish cemetery, where the guided tour was led by Arno Pařík and Daniel Polakovič.

At the synagogue in Čáslav, the group was welcomed by representatives of the Dr. Dagmar Lieblová Foundation Fund, Martin Liebl and Marek Lauerman. They introduced the ongoing restoration of the synagogue and presented the cultural and community activities currently taking place within the building.

The excursion continued in Kolín, where participants visited the Old Jewish Cemetery. The tour was conducted by Daniel Polakovič, who has been actively involved in the cemetery’s documentation in recent years.

Throughout the day, participants were also introduced to the work of Matana, a.s., the Administration of Buildings and Cemeteries, as well as to the professional activities of the Jewish Museum in Prague. Their work significantly contributes to the preservation, research, and documentation of Jewish heritage and history in the Czech Republic.
